My looong weekend
Hey guys!! It has been a while....sorry. Our weekend in Walterboro went pretty well. I thought Thursday would be the hardest day because Mitch died on March 3rd, but Bobby thought it would be Wednesday because the 3rd was a Wednesday last year. Obviously, Judy (Mitch's wife) thought it was the hardest also. Mitch's dad met Judy at the grave Wednesday afternoon and they talked for about an hour. We got to Walterboro about 8:00 and Emily, Judy's daughter, showed up not long after that. We had a campfire in the backyard and it ended up being me and Emily staying out at the fire talking. We had a nice long talk. She said she doesn't talk to many people about Mitch but that she felt really comfortable talking to me about him. She talked about a lot of fun times they had. We also talked about his death and how we had both reacted to it. It was a good talk. Emmi is 18 now and a beautiful girl and soooo sweet. Mitch was so proud of her....treated her like she was his own. She put a memorial in the paper. It was a poem with a picture of him and her. It was sooooo sweet. I will try to get them scanned. Judy put one in too. The next day, me and Bobby took flowers out to Mitch's grave. Then me, Judy and Emily did a little shopping. Not many places to shop in Walterboro! LOL That night, we went out to eat with several of their friends. Bobby and I left Friday to get home to go to the Shinedown concert....I'll get to that later. Judy was supposed to come to Spartanburg on Sunday and go to church with us. She had put the flowers on the alter in church in his memory on Sunday. (Mitch grew up in our church). Well, she called Sunday morning and said she had been up since about 3am having anxiety attacks and crying and said she couldn't come. I didn't realize that it was a year to the day that we buried Mitch so I guess it was a tough day for her. She took some meds and went to bed. The flowers were really beautiful. I took some pics with Erin's digital camera but have to wait for her to show me how to download them. Anyways, it was two vases of flowers (she was supposed to take one to put on his grave). Me and Bobby took the flowers out to Woodruff (where he died) and put them out there. We lit a fire and hung out there for a while. After that, we took the other vase of flowers and put them on my grandma's grave. We have talked to Judy since and she is feeling better. I can't imagine how hard it must be for her, especially since Emmi has moved out now.
Now....on to the Shinedown concert. Of course, it was AWESOME!!!! And of course, I cried when they played 45. But let me tell you, Tremont Music Hall is a DUMP!!!! I would never go back there. We had such a hard time finding it. We got the directions off of their website and still had to stop about three times to ask directions. And of course after the concert, we had to take a "tour" of Charlotte before we could finally find the interstate. I hate big cities!! LOL We are going to see Green Day next month at Cricket Arena in Charlotte. I sure hope it is easier to find. I know it will be nicer. And we have pretty good seats too. Haven't been able to get on the computer much lately. I have the girls on a "computer schedule" now. Claire loves to get on it and play games and she starts fussing when Erin gets on because she wants on! LOL So now, on week nights, Claire gets the computer from 7 to 8 and Erin gets it from 8 to 9. Doesn't leave much time for Mom!! LOL Thank goodness Bobby is computer illiterate!! We'll play the weekends by ear. Well, gotta get Claire Bear in the tub and then pick Erin up from drama practice. Talk to you all soon!!
