Katrina

I just talked to my friend, DeAnn, who lives in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She had evacuated to Georgia but is now on her way back to SC. The bridge (main way into where she lives) is washed out. She said that she was told that everything up to six miles in was devastated and she was less than a mile in from the coast. Her husband is in the Air Force and is on TDY in Alaska. They are trying find a replacement for him. From all the pictures she has seen on TV, she thinks her house is gone. She said the worst part is not knowing. And there is no telling how long until they will be able to get there to see. Even her office that she works at is probably gone because it was in the same area as her home. My heart is breaking for her. I was watching the news channel last night and saw them talk to a man who lost his wife. He said he was holding on to her hand and just couldn't keep ahold of her. She said for him to let her go and take care of the kids and grandkids....I was just crying. Then I saw an elderly man rescued through a hole in his roof. He was soaking wet and look so dazed but when they got him out, he reached and shook their hand and smiled. All of us at work that want to help someway are going to collect money and give it to my friend DeAnn. That way it goes to someone we know and if she doesn't need it, I'm sure she will know someone who does. I'm feeling so sad for her right now. She is such a sweetheart and good friend. And I am also feeling very thankful too, that I have a home, a family, and a job.....things we take for granted. So be thankful everyone. And keep those poor people who have been through this devastation in your prayers. They have a long road ahead of them.

Did you try going to the Sun Times link or whatever the newspaper is? I know the bridge between Ocean Springs and Biloxi is out. Oh, and I'll ask her about the donut shop. She is back in SC now but is sleeping.

OH Angie, that is just awful. Prayers and thoughts for your friend.
I was just writing about seeing all this stuff on TV today.
My heart breaks at what I am seeing.
I am so thankful to have my family close and I don't know what I would do without them.

HUGS TO YOU AND TO YOUR FRIENDS. SHE IS IN MY PRAYERS.
