complaining and stuff...
I had the worst day at work yesterday!! Someone had the "brilliant" idea to switch our CPU's and put us hooking up to the main server. Supposedly, the doctors needed the CPU's in the exam rooms. Well, what that did was make my work even harder. We have a billing system and an electronic medical records system. Since I post checks, I use the billing system. Well, it is running soooooooooo slow I can hardly do my work. I was so frustrated yesterday. It was all I could do not to pull my hair out. And they don't seem to care! If I can't get my work done, their money doesn't go in the bank. Can anyone say priorities???? Geesh. So I figure that if they don't care, I'll just have to do the best I can with what I have to work with. But I have such trouble putting myself in that mindset. I want to do my job and not be slowed down by a ridiculously slow running computer. It has cut my production in half...not to mention what it has done to my nerves. And trust me, I complained several times about it. They have spend all this $$ on a computer system so what is a few dollars more to make sure the money to pay for it gets in the bank?? And my internet service at home has been screwed up. Half the time, it doesn't work. It is a cable modem. Seems if the cable is working on TV, the internet should be. It seems to be doing okay today. But it should be available all the time. If and when it screws up again, I'll give them one chance to fix it then I'm switching to a DSL. Nothing worse that not being able to get on the internet when you want to.
Update on my friend DeAnn from Mississippi....a friend of hers that lives about two blocks from her in Ocean Springs went and checked on her own house (her parents live in Mobile). She said she had some roof damage and downed trees and thought DeAnn's house was about the same. She didn't actually check on DeAnn's house though. But hers is a newer house that had to be built with hurricane straps so she is optimistic. Her friend told her not to even bother trying to come down there right now because there is no gas, no power, no water, etc. Her husband is coming home from Alaska (to SC) so they will take it from there. From what I understand, Keesler AFB (where he is stationed) received some major damage too so it will be closed for a while. Her office seemed to be okay but won't open again for about a month. I think she may come and do some work in our office while she is here (which will be great!) My MIL talked to her brothers and sister that live in LA and they are all okay...just no power. I'm still watching the coverage on TV and it just breaks my heart. I just can't imagine going through what all these people are.
