Katrina
I just talked to my friend, DeAnn, who lives in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She had evacuated to Georgia but is now on her way back to SC. The bridge (main way into where she lives) is washed out. She said that she was told that everything up to six miles in was devastated and she was less than a mile in from the coast. Her husband is in the Air Force and is on TDY in Alaska. They are trying find a replacement for him. From all the pictures she has seen on TV, she thinks her house is gone. She said the worst part is not knowing. And there is no telling how long until they will be able to get there to see. Even her office that she works at is probably gone because it was in the same area as her home. My heart is breaking for her. I was watching the news channel last night and saw them talk to a man who lost his wife. He said he was holding on to her hand and just couldn't keep ahold of her. She said for him to let her go and take care of the kids and grandkids....I was just crying. Then I saw an elderly man rescued through a hole in his roof. He was soaking wet and look so dazed but when they got him out, he reached and shook their hand and smiled. All of us at work that want to help someway are going to collect money and give it to my friend DeAnn. That way it goes to someone we know and if she doesn't need it, I'm sure she will know someone who does. I'm feeling so sad for her right now. She is such a sweetheart and good friend. And I am also feeling very thankful too, that I have a home, a family, and a job.....things we take for granted. So be thankful everyone. And keep those poor people who have been through this devastation in your prayers. They have a long road ahead of them.

The Race

See what we did? The best I can determine, we were in the blue somewhere above the S and the T. This was during the pre-race show. It was Rusty Wallace's last race at Bristol. We also made an American flag during the National Anthem which was pretty cool. We could see it on the TV monitors. The race was fun...a little tense at first. Usually we take a car to the track the day before and double park it so we can get a good parking place. Then when we get there with the 2nd car, we move it so they both fit in. Well, there was a rain delay on the Friday night race so we didn't get to do that. We left about 12:30 for a 7:30 race. (the track is about 20 minutes away). Anyways, we were in two cars. My SIL was under the impression that her husband would double park his car and then we would take hers and mess around Bristol for a while. Well, wires got crossed and they got in a fight. I have never seen them argue before. Talk about uncomfortable!! But they eventually got over it and all was well. Except that we were at the race about 5 hours early. But in a way it was nice because we got to ride the elevator up to our sits. Those steps are a BITCH. They are practically horizontal. Tony had a good finish....top 10. He is already in the points race no matter how he finishes. Tammy....I did pull for the Elliot Sadler M&M's car. He ran realy well. I even bought some M&M's at the race! LOL Now all my muscles ache. When we left the race, since we parked in a different place, we had trouble finding out how to get to the car. Ended up going down a lot of steps and then climbing back UP them!! Then a HUGE hill. I was worn out!!!! And I am soooo sore today. Worked muscles I didn't know I had. (Oh, and I didn't take my camera in so no pics.)
I talk with Mitch's wife, Judy tonight. She was having a hard time. I told her that maybe she needed to think about cleaning out Mitch's clothes....it has been about 1 1/2 years now, and I told her I would be glad to help her do it. So....when she is ready. Gotta run now....later!

no rain please!!
Well, it is Saturday morning and it is raining...a little. The race isn't until tonight so hopefully it will clear up. They had two rain delays during the Busch race last night. I'm debating taking my camera because I don't want it to get wet if it rains. Oh gosh, this laptop is awesome. It is an Apple with wireless internet connection. I'm sitting on the couch drinking coffee and typing....ah, thats the life. Wish I could get me one of these babies!! Gotta go before I run SIL's battery down....then she might not let me use it again!! Fingers crossed for no rain....and GO TONY!!!!!!!!

Hi all!
Hey guys! I'm back. Sorry....my internet has been down ALL day. It just now came up and I hope it stays up. I'm feeling a lot better now. The majority of the swelling is gone but it really wasn't until today that I started feeling better. I felt like crap Wednesday at work....but when I got home, I had a package waiting for me. From my sweet loopie Kim!! And she didn't even know I was sick when she sent it. It was all pretty and wrapped up and just made my day. Kim knows me too well....it was a Tony Stewart notebook, a Tony Stewart spiral notebook, and one of those little cubes with notes in it. See picture..... oh well, I guess you see the picture first. It won't let me move it. Thank you Kim!!!!!! That was sooooo sweet of you to think of me and suprise me that way!! Erin's 15th birthday was yesterday and first thing in the morning, she went and got her learners permit. She was worried because all her friends knew she was going to take it and she was afraid she would fail. But she only missed one question. We got her concert tickets to see Cold Play and some $$ plus she had gotten her cartilage pierced about 1 1/2 months ago which was part of her birthday. Today, my mom and dad took her and me and Claire to Kanpai. It was fun. The cook was so sweet to Claire. He was funny. Asked her if she ordered a hot dog. LOL Anyways, just wanted to let you all know I survived my sickness. The window AC in Erin and Claire's room was leaking and the floor and everything on it was SOAKED. It was awful. I don't know how long it had been doing that but obviously quite a while. I spent the afternoon cleaning that and throwing things out and washing things. Not how I needed to spend my day today. I cleaned the filter and everything but it is still leaking a little bit in the corner so we have to call Sears to come and look at it. But first, they have to clean their room. But heck, I got half of it done today.....ugh!!! Anyways, I'm gonna try to relax some and then get Claire in the tub. I wish I could check everyones blogs tonight and catch up but I don't feel much up to it but I promise I will soon!!

poor pitiful me!
Oh gosh, I woke up yesterday morning with the left side of my face swollen, from my top lip up to my eye. I feel like the elephant man or something. I went on to work because I don't have a family doctor and they got me worked in with someone. I have a sinus infection....never had one that made my face swell up. So I got a steroid shot, a megadose of antibiotics and a decongestent. She told me I should notice a huge difference in the swelling in my face by last night....NOT!! I am miserable. This is my 2nd day out of work and I'm about to go crazy. My face is still swollen. I can't sleep because the damn decongestant keeps me awake...I woke up every hour last night. I can't take a nap because I'm not sleepy. I can't read or get on the computer because I'm so swollen, I can't wear my glasses and will go cross eyed if I try. I've been sitting in the recliner all day with a heating pad on half of my face. I had to do something different so I came to whine to you guys. And to top it off, there is a fly driving me crazy....not that it would take much today! Well, I thnk I have spent my allotted time on the computer today (without my glasses). Bobby will be bring me some homemade chicken soup (from my Mom!) so I'm sure that will help. Keeping my fingers crossed I can go to work tomorrow. Heck, the way I haven't been sleeping, I may be there at 4am!!

Guess what I'm wearing to work tomorrow?
Yep, time to break out the Tony Stewart lab jacket again! WOOOHOOOO!!! That is 5 out of the last 7 races he has won. I do believe he is determined! (there will probably some who say he is cheating!) What can I say....the man is on a roll!! I didn't even see the end of the race. I was out at the pool with Claire and my nephew Patrick. My brother came out there too so of course, the war was on. The water bomb war that is. You know those little splash balls for pools? Yeah, they are flying everywhere! By the time I stumbled out of the pool, the race was over. So I 've got my Tony scrubs in the wash. Go Tony! I'm loving it! :)

walk through
Geesh, three posts in one day. Why can't I get my brain together and put it all into one? We did a walk through yesterday of our new office....you saw it Gina! That place is HUGE!! We won't be the only medical office in it. There will be tons. But is going to be so awesome. We are bulging at the seams in our old building. The new building is mostly dry wall right now but you can get a good idea of what it will be like. I found my little "space". Right near the back door and the break room! Yay! I will be out of all the commotion which will be great! It is really gonna be beautiful. The main lobby of the building will have a waterfall! It will be on the front of the elevators. Can't wait to see it completed. There will be a restaraunt in there too. Probably expensive so I can just run down the street to my Mom's and eat lunch with her! hee hee! Estimated time of move in is December 12. I was reminded about 5 times yesterday I needed to start clearing out junk to get ready for the move. Everytime my office manager mentioned it, I was like "yes mother, reminder 3, reminder 4, reminder 5. I have to admit I have quite a messy desk at work. BUT I do know where everything is! Hey, after 16 years, you tend to accumulate a lot of junk! LOL But I will be ready! I'm so excited!!

keepin my fingers crossed
Well, I'm HOPING I scored some free tickets to the Firelake Festival in Gaffney. It is like a three day long festival with tons of different bands. Shinedown plays tonight and I would love to see them again. A girl I work with got a four day camping pass for free. She went last night and is going to let me use it today. I'm waiting to hear from her though because the ticket was a tear off stub so I'm not sure how they do re-entry. Sugar Ray is playing tonight too. But I can't pay $45 to hear Shinedown play for one hour. So.......heres hoping it will work out. It will probably be just me and Erin because Bobby got his fill of outdoor concerts Monday with the Warped Tour. But the two bands I want to hear won't start until about 7:30.

How bad have you got it?

Okay....I am such a dork!! This is my day after race wear if Tony wins. We wear scrubs to work which as you know (or may not know) come in all assortment of prints. Well, my mom made me a Tony Stewart lab jacket for Christmas. So when he wins a race, my workday wear on Monday is a Tony Stewart shirt, my Tony Stewart lab jacket, my Nascar dog tags that I got from the Nascar Cafe (has my name on it...oooohhhh!) and if I could, I would wear my TS flip flops or slippers....but I don't. And my really cool bracelet that Claire made me yesterday (watch out Gina and Sara! LOL) It is made from a pipe cleaner and beads and is now going to be a race day necessity (to bring Tony luck of course).
Erin and Bobby are at the Warped Tour so I had supper at my mom's (leftovers but definitely yummy). She went to Curves while we were eating so Claire washed dishes for her. Sweet girl! Thats all for now! Go Tony!!

SMOOOOOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMGosh!!! Gooooo Smoke! Tony won another one.....and took the points lead. How cool is that??????????

pool pictures!
Watch out, between me and Gina, we have tons of pictures from the pool! We had so much fun. Blake and Julia are such sweethearts. And of course, being with Gina is like being with an old friend. The kids swam and swam and swam. I think they enjoyed the sliding board the most. Me and Gina even took a couple of trips down it ourselves. Only one mishap. Poor Julia must have slipped climbing up the slide. She was covered in dirt, bless her heart. But we got her cleaned off and it wasn't long until she was on the slide again. Bobby came by for a few minutes to meet them but he didn't stay since Wes couldn't come. It was a nice sunny day.....about the time we were ready to come in, it started raining. Of course, the kids all played great together. Just had to get over that initial shyness but that didn't last long at all. My mom even made them all a good old English cuppa tea! Gina has the cutest picture of Julia and Claire drinking tea. And her pictures of the kids on the slide are better than mine. It is all in the timing and my timing was definitely off! Between the both of us, I'm sure you'll all say ENOUGH WITH THE PICS! LOL And Gina has got me all excited for a loopie get together and then you really will be in trouble with pictures!

The three cuties. They didn't want to stand still for long....ready to get back on the slide!

Hump Day
Geesh, what a long week it has been. I tell you, work really sucks! We had a staff meeting this morning. That place is so screwed up. I don't know why I even try to offer suggestions. They never go to the source of the problem. Well, one day it is gonna end up bitting them in the you know what. Can't wait until we get our new office open. I'll have an office that I share with another person (who is very cool and I won't mind sharing with) and then hopefully I can tune out of lot of the BS that goes on. Too much office gossip and not enough working. Why do the bosses not see it?? Oh well, not my problem. I have to develop an "I don't care" attitude. That is a terrible thing to say about your job but if I don't, it will drive you crazy. I care about my job and I will do my job right and work hard....but to heck with the rest of them!! It is a job, not a career. Keep that paycheck coming so I can support my family and I will ignore the rest of it (to the best of my ability). Anyways, enough of my gripeing. Gotta get the Claire Bear in the tub. And we are sooooo looking forward to seeing Gina, Blake and Julia this weekend. I think the sun will be joining us too!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!
